Things to Consider When Booking Your IELTS Exam
Booking your IELTS exam at random can reduce your chances of reaching your band score goal. Read on to find out the various things you need to consider before booking your IELTS test.
IELTS EXAM TYPE
IELTS has two main versions: Academic and General Training. Think about why you are taking the exam if you are not sure of which type to take.
The IELTS Academic exam is for individuals who are planning to pursue higher education or professional registration abroad. The IELTS General Training exam, on the other hand, is for individuals who are looking to planning to work, train, or study high school abroad.
EXAM PREPARATIONS
After establishing which test version you are going to take, the next thing you must consider is your exam preparations. You have two major agendas during this period: to accomplish all the documentation requirements and to review for the high-stakes exam.
1. REQUIREMENTS ACCOMPLISHMENT
Here’s a list of all the documents you need to submit when you book your IELTS exam:
• Application form – to acquire one, you can either visit the nearest IELTS test center or download a copy at the IELTS website.
• Photocopy of a valid ID – IELTS exam administrators only accept passport, GSIS card, SSS card, PRC license, and the Unified Multi-purpose card. Bring the same ID you submit on the test date. Also, make sure the ID you used is still valid on your test date.
• Two passport-sized photos
Take note that requirements may vary from facility to facility. So, contact your test center to make sure you have everything you need.
2. IELTS REVIEW
You cannot study for the IELTS exam in one night. It takes weeks—sometimes months—to sufficiently prepare for the high-stakes exam. Here are five ways to review for IELTS.
• Self-study
• Get a study buddy
• Join a study group
• Enroll in an IELTS review center
• Enroll in an IELTS online review course
Consider your learning style and the pros and cons of each review approach. If you want to enroll in a training program but there are no review centers in your area, taking IELTS online review classes is for you.
Make sure you coordinate your IELTS training efforts with your target test date. It is highly recommended that you take the IELTS exam soon after you finish your IELTS review program.
